GOOD by Pencil Planning @ Jaya One

GOOD lives up to its name: This coffee bar & concept store by Korean interior designer Sine J.H. Kim & his terrific team is a unique space that showcases admirable attention to detail - it's easily our new favourite destination for caffeine in Jaya One.

This soothingly serene cafe banks on Cottle Coffee for single origins from across the globe - Costa Rica to Colombia, Ethiopia to Indonesia, Brazil & Mexico to Kenya, Honduras & Peru - to create Dutch coffees, hand-drips (including one tinged with maple syrup for a touch of sweetness) & espresso-based varieties (mostly RM12-RM14 each). GOOD's friendly baristas are completely capable of making reliable recommendations & explaining each offering; make your choice at the counter & take a plush toy (Pikachu, Spider-Man or SpongeBob?) to your table for order identification. Attractive cakes are also available.

The black beverages hit the spot - smooth & sensuous, complex & concentrated. Head here now to feed your IG stories, or wait till next month, when GOOD introduces espresso cones - coffee served in miniature chocolate-lined ice cream cones.

A chunk of GOOD is dedicated to a gallery of shoes, soap, earrings & other curated merchandise, much of which may be exclusive to GOOD as far as Malaysia is concerned. Browse at your leisure, or buy & bring home immediately. Bonus trivia: Pencil Planning refers to Kim's consultancy company.

Estiatopio @ Cape Sounion, Greece

The Temple of Poseidon is an astonishing site, perched by the sea in Cape Sounion on the southernmost tip of Greece's Attica peninsula, a two-hour bus ride from Athens. Explore the scene, then grab a beer at Estiatopio, a cafe with a view of the ruins.

Hameediyah Nasi Kandar @ Kota Damansara

After nearly 110 years in George Town, Penang's Hameediyah has branched out to Selangor, finding a 21st-century foothold on franchise fame in Kota Damansara. The pioneering purveyors of nasi kandar are off to a brisk start, with no lack of a lunchtime crowd. Everyone knows the drill - line up & take your pick of freshly steamed white rice or biryani (most customers seem to prefer the latter), with the familiar suspects of meat, seafood, vegetables & curries to complete one hearty ensemble.

Dal-drenched biryani with fried chicken & fish roe clocks in at RM13 - not a bad bargain for a plateful of comforting flavours. Some signatures may require a wait for preparation - we're looking at you, kambing mysore, ayam kampung bawang & murtabak daging - while several Penang highlights like kari itik seem absent. Patience is a prerequisite for joining the queue.
